Better Decisions

begin before the meeting.

EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP PARTNER

I partner with Boards and executive leaders to strengthen governance, navigate leadership transitions, improve executive decision-making, and build the organizational practices that turn decisions into action.

WHERE I HELP LEADERS MOVE FORWARD

My experience is especially useful where governance, leadership, and organizational execution intersect.

Board Effectiveness
Strengthening Board onboarding, Board member experience, committee practices, materials, evaluation, and leadership succession so directors are prepared to contribute meaningfully.

—————

Executive Decision-Making
Helping leaders get the right information, perspectives, and issues in front of the right people early enough to make informed decisions.

Organizational Effectiveness
Connecting priorities, people, processes, and accountability so decisions translate into coordinated action.

Leadership Transitions
Helping organizations prepare for and navigate leadership change through search governance, knowledge transfer, onboarding, and stakeholder coordination.

Experience in Practice

GOVERNANCE IN ACTION

Examples of how I have helped Boards and executive leaders strengthen governance practices, prepare for leadership change, improve the information used for decisions, and turn ideas into workable processes.

—————

Leadership Transition Governance
Built the governance timeline and coordinated the Board and Search Committee process for a confidential national CEO search, translating bylaws, policies, decision points, and stakeholder responsibilities into a structured process from search launch through CEO selection.

Executive Decision-Making
Designed executive summaries and Board materials around the purpose of each item and what leaders and directors needed from it, bringing forward the information and context needed before decisions reached the room.

Board Member Experience
Redesigned onboarding from a primarily event-based orientation into an ongoing experience incorporating education, relationship-building, Board mentorship, experience feedback, and peer and self-assessments.

Governance Process Design
Translated governance requirements into practical systems, including committee charters, annual calendars, Board and committee workflows, and documentation practices that clarified responsibilities and kept governance work moving between meetings.

Before the Meeting

Some of the most important governance and leadership work happens before anyone enters the room.

Is the purpose clear? Do people have what they need to engage meaningfully? Has an issue been introduced early enough that the first real conversation isn't happening when a decision is required? Does everyone understand what comes next?

I learned to think several steps ahead, not to predetermine the answer, but to create the conditions for a better conversation and a better decision. Sometimes that means introducing a topic before action is needed. Sometimes it means surfacing a dependency, clarifying who owns the next step, or recognizing that leaders need more information before moving forward.

The meeting is one moment. The work around it is what makes that moment productive.

About Sherri

I spent more than 18 years working alongside executive leadership, with a view into both the decisions being made and everything required to make those decisions possible.

Over time, my responsibilities expanded across the Executive Office, governance, leadership transitions, and organizational initiatives. I partnered closely with the President and CEO, worked extensively with the Board and its committees, supported leadership transitions, and took on organizational initiatives that didn't fit neatly inside one function.

That vantage point shaped how I work. I tend to see the connections between things: the decision coming three months from now and the conversation that needs to happen today, the new executive and the relationships they'll need to build, the Board material and the question directors actually need answered.

At my best, I connect the pieces and create a practical path forward.

Let’s Connect

If something here connects with a need in your organization, I’d be glad to hear from you.

I welcome conversations about executive leadership opportunities, advisory or project-based work, or simply an opportunity to connect.
